5 things people with clear skin do everyday

Achieving healthy, glowing skin isn't just about using the right skincare products; it's also about adopting daily habits that promote skin health from within. Five habits you can start incorporating every day are:

  • Hydrate inside and out

  • Cleanse with care

  • Protect your skin from the sun

  • Get adequate sleep

  • Follow a balanced diet

By adding these simple yet effective practices into your daily routine, you can nourish your skin and maintain its natural radiance. I always heard the same old tips and tricks but it really wasn’t until I paid attention to my daily habits and started doing these things daily and consistently that I saw results. All it takes is making habits that you prioritize day after day. So let’s get started with some healthy skin tips!

1. Hydrate Inside and Out

Hydration is key to maintaining healthy skin. Start your day by drinking a glass of water to replenish moisture lost during sleep. Make it exciting and add some lemon to your water. Switch it up from warm water with lemon to ice water with lemon. Throughout the day, aim to drink plenty of water to keep your skin hydrated from the inside out. Additionally, apply a moisturizer suited to your skin type after cleansing to lock in moisture and maintain a healthy skin barrier. Look for products containing hydrating ingredients like hyaluronic acid or glycerin for optimal results. Some great options are CeraVe or CeraVe with Hyaluronic Acid.

2. Cleanse with Care

Proper cleansing is crucial for removing dirt, oil, and impurities that can accumulate on the skin throughout the day. However, harsh cleansers can strip the skin of its natural oils and disrupt its pH balance, leading to irritation and dryness. Girls who have clear skin naturally treat their skin with kindness. They are gentle and do not scrub harshly or make their face beet red when cleansing. Opt for a gentle, non-comedogenic cleanser that effectively removes impurities without causing irritation. I highly highly recommend using only micellar water. I tried so many different cleansers and was either left with skin that was super oily or flaky dry. Less is more here, we want to balance your skin to its optimal pH. Try to use micellar water on a cotton ball as a cleanser and makeup remover. It’s even ok to leave the micellar water on your skin after you remove everything with the cotton ball to allow the skin to remain dewy and moisturized.

3. Protect Your Skin from the Sun

Exposure to harmful UV rays can accelerate skin aging and increase the risk of skin cancer. When you see women who have naturally gorgeous clean skin you can bet they use a daily SPF. Make sun protection a non-negotiable part of your daily skincare routine by applying a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher every morning, regardless of the weather. Reapply sunscreen every two hours, especially if you're spending extended periods outdoors or engaging in activities that cause sweating or swimming. Don't forget to protect your neck as well and any exposed part of your chest. If you still want a little color to your sunscreen I recommend trying eltaMD tinted face sunscreen, it’s super light, can be used as a base layer for foundation and leaves your skin glowy.

4. Get Adequate Sleep

Quality sleep is essential for overall health and well-being, including skin health. During sleep, your body repairs and rejuvenates cells, including skin cells, leading to a more youthful and radiant complexion. Aim for 7-9 hours of uninterrupted sleep each night to allow your skin ample time to regenerate. Establish a relaxing bedtime routine, such as dimming the lights, avoiding screens before bed, and practicing relaxation techniques like deep breathing or meditation, to promote restful sleep and wake up to refreshed, glowing skin. I love to everynight and keep track of how much I’m sleeping. It’s so important to get enough sleep also for regulating hormones which may be causing your acne.

5. Follow a Balanced Diet

What you eat can significantly impact the health and appearance of your skin. Someone with beautiful clear skin has a diet rich in fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and healthy fats which provides essential nutrients, antioxidants, and hydration that nourish your skin from the inside out. Incorporate foods high in vitamins A, C, and E, as well as omega-3 fatty acids, into your meals to support skin health and combat inflammation. Limit your intake of processed foods, sugary snacks, and excessive alcohol, which can contribute more skin issues especially for skin prone to acne.

Don’t underestimate the power of positive thinking

Anyone you’ll find with glowy and clear skin views themselves differently. They have a belief deep down that they have clear skin. The stories we tell ourselves will always come true. Maybe you’re telling yourself right now that you just don’t have good skin, you’ve always struggled with hormonal acne, flare-ups, pimples, whatever. It’s so important to break that cycle of thinking if you want clear skin. Your body will always want to prove the mind right. You have to rewrite that little story in your head by believing that you have clear skin, you are glowing from within, you have healthy habits everyday that contribute to a beautiful complexion. Once I realized the power I had in my mind, it changed everything.

By incorporating these five daily habits into your skincare routine, you can nourish your skin and maintain a healthy, radiant complexion for years to come. Remember that consistency is key, so make these habits a priority in your daily life to reap the full benefits of healthy skincare.
